Awards & Community Involvement:

  • BBB Business of the Year Award on 10/7/04 On Oct. 7, 2004 The Better Business Bureau serving Oregon and Western Washington announced Pop Art, Inc. as the Business of the Year for Oregon and Southwest Washington in the Small Business Category.
  • Mt. Hood Kiwanis Camp - A newly re-designed web site for Mt. Hood Kiwanis Camp was launched in December. Pop Art donated time and talent to the summer camp for developmentally disabled children and adults. The brightly colored web site reflects the fun experience campers enjoy at the Mt. Hood Kiwanis program. The new site also provides a content management system so camp staffers can update content on their own. Pop Art is also providing hosting services to the camp.
  • OPB Fund Drive - Pop Art participated in the annual OPB (Oregon Public Broadcasting) Fall Fund Drive this October. The Pop Art team and family rose early in the a.m. to volunteer at the phone bank taking pledges of over $20,000.
  • AMA Volunteer of the Month Award - Megan Daniels was honored by the Portland chapter of the American Marketing Association as Volunteer of the Month for November 2004. Her AMA volunteer responsibilities include updating and maintaining the AMA web site by keeping the Career Center, Events Calendar and email accounts current. Megan is Executive Assistant and Office Manager at Pop Art. In addition, Pop Art's volunteer time for the AMA includes Aaron Tersteeg's (Pop Art VP Sales and Marketing) work as Interactive Marketing chair on the AMA Board.
  • Introduction to Search Engine Marketing: Initial Steps to Success - Tuesday, January 25, 2005 at 7:30 a.m., Pop Art's Search Engine Marketing Product Manager, Scott Orth, will present a seminar at the AMA Marketer's Toolkit Breakfast held at the MAC Club. This seminar will focus on getting your SEM campaign started. For more information, see the AMA web site.
  • PICA - Pop Art is showing its commitment to the arts in Portland by renewing a pro bono web site support contract for 2005 with Portland Institute for Contemporary Art.
  • Saturday Academy - Pop Art is donating web development services to Saturday Academy, a nonprofit organization affiliated with Portland State University, that runs extracurricular programs which strive to enrich the education of Oregon 4th - 12th graders via hands-on experience.

New Clients and Projects:

  • Endeavour Capital - Endeavour, a local investment firm, has selected Pop Art for a web redesign project that will result in a site consistent with the firm's new print marketing collateral.
  • Harrington & Associates - Harrington, a local speech and presentation training company selected Pop Art to do a web site design and interactive marketing services
  • UThreads.com - U Threads, a longtime Pop Art client, has elected to embark on an e-commerce site redesign utilizing Pop Art's Catabolt e-commerce module and web content management system. Search engine marketing and direct email marketing are also components of the new project.
  • Freightliner.com - Freightliner LLC, a DaimlerChrysler Company has selected Pop Art to drive their full corporate web site redesign project scheduled for launch in early 2005.


Launches and Project Completions:

  • Freightliner Trucks - Pop Art recently launched a re-design of the Freightliner Trucks homepage. The new design is consistent with the Freightliner Trucks Run SmartTM campaign, makes use of motion with Flash design and rotating product photography, features prominent calls to action as well as search engine optimized content.
  • Unitus Community Credit Union - Pop Art launched the re-branded web site for Unitus Community Credit Union, formerly known as Oregon Telco Community Credit Union. In addition to showcasing the new brand name, logo and color scheme, Pop Art engineered the site with its advanced Catabolt web content management system so Unitus can easily update content.
  • Washington Mutual - Pop Art completed an application for online banking to assist the company in providing additional services for commercial banking customers.
  • One Economy Corporation - Pop Art completed Flash animation work for One Economy Corporation, the flash component is an educational demonstration about money management for One Economy Corporation's consumer web site, Beehive.org.
  • Pacific Continental Bank new web site launched, it features a new look and feel as well as the Catabolt web content management system.
  • Pop Art launched a new web site for the Australasian College of Herbal Studies (ACHS). The new ACHS site features Catabolt web content management, updated graphic design and a virtual library as well as e-registration for students.


New Team Members:

  • Justin Garrity - Justin joins Pop Art as Creative Director. He takes a position on the Executive Council and will lead the creative department ensuring high quality, innovative design, information architecture and usability standards. Justin formerly held the position of Director of Interactive Animation at Learning.com, an educational technology company.
  • Valerie Hoecke - Valerie joins the Pop Art team as Director of Project Management and holds a position on the Pop Art Executive Council. Valerie brings strong leadership to the project management department and a focus on client services strategy. Prior to joining Pop Art, Valerie co-founded and led Fire Engine Red, a San Francisco web development services firm. Subsequently, Valerie also held positions of Vice President, Venture Strategy and Vice President of Operations at Rare Medium, a publicly traded professional services firm.
